FRAME – Four sided surround made from either wood, MDF or synthetic plastic mouldings.
FRAME CONTAINS: glass, a leaflet to signify frame size, an MDF hardboard back, hangers ( sizes 12x10 and smaller can contain a strut back ( stand ) as well which allows the frame to stand rather than hang ).
Each frame is individually shrink wrapped, assembled and finished ready for sale.
Glass/Frame size – When the frame is face down, this is the size from one INSIDE edge of the frame to the other INSIDE edge. Also referred to as glass size.
External Size – This is the measurement from one OUTSIDE edge to the other OUTSIDE edge of the frame.
MOUNT – Card surround or border around photo or print.
The mount protects your artwork or photo by creating a barrier between the glass and print. It also adds to the visual effect of the artwork by creating space between the artwork and the frame.
Measuring a Mount - Measure EXACT size that you want the aperture cut. Then state the width, colour and style of the mount that you require.
Aperture – Hole cut into the mount board.
Bevel – Angle cut on inside edge of aperture.
Standard / Cream core mountboard - Cream core bevelled standard quality mount board.
White core bevelled quality mount board, which we recommend all our customers to use. The mount bevel stays a crisp white colour over the life time of the mount.
Black Core Mountboard- Black bevelled mount board. When the mount board is cut, a black bevel or core is revealed. Looks especially good on black & white photo’s.
See INFO on MOUNTS

V-groove mount – Mount with a V cut on surface of mount board, usually a few centimetres outside and around the aperture.
V-groove and spacer – Same as above with 5mm or 10mm foam board attached to the back of mount to create visual depth between artwork/photo and surface of mount.
Printed or embossed signature, text and logo - We can print or emboss signature, text and logo at the direction to you.
Single mount - Single sheet of mount board with single aperture.
Double mount - Two sheets of mountboard, one lying on top of the other. Usually has bigger aperture on top mount to allow small amount of bottom mount colour protrude.
Triple mount – Same as Double except using three mount boards on top of each other to create a step effect on inside of aperture.
Shadow mount – Interesting use of two mounts with 5 or 10mm foam board in between, to create visual depth in your mounted product.
See Standard Mounts
Multi-Aperture mount – Mount with several aperture’s cut out of the mountboard. Multi opening mounts are available
in all mount types. See Muti Photo Frame
Text boxes can be included in any mount. These are a smaller aperture, usually cut under the main aperture, to allow a title or names to be placed behind the mount.
Wood Fillet Mounts – Carefully assembled by hand, these wooden fillets are fitted to the inside edge of the mount, to complement the frame. See Wood Fillet Mounts with Frames
We have several frame mouldings which can be paired with our current fillet options, black, silver or gold.
As well as single opening mounts, you can choose from our Multi-Photo Mount Options or have custom-made multi-aperture mounts.
Deep Bevel – Again carefully assembled by hand, intricate use of tapes and board produce a stunning 5mm bevel in various colours to complement the frame. See Deep Bevel in Premium Mounts Collection
