Choosing the Right Hanger: A Guide to Strand Framing’s Hanging Options

When it comes to finishing your framed artwork, choosing the right hanging hardware is just as important as the frame itself. At Strand Framing, we offer a selection of hanger types to suit different frame sizes, wall types, and customer preferences. Here’s a quick guide to the hanging options we use: Please note that many of our stock frames have been completed with the most suitable hanger for that frame type.

1. Mini Hanger

Perfect for smaller frames, the mini hanger is a compact integrated metal bracket attached at the back, allowing for easy wall mounting. It’s ideal for lightweight artwork and ensures a clean, minimal look from the front.

2. Regular Hanger

A step up in size and strength, regular hangers are suitable for small to large sized frames. These are sturdy metal fittings that are integrated into the backing board and can support heavier pieces and provide reliable wall attachment for most home or gallery settings.

3. Large Hanger

Larger Hangers are sturdy metal fittings that can support heavier pieces and provide reliable wall attachment for most home or gallery settings. (They also pass the QVC Salt test so would be recommended for QVC orders)

3. D Rings and Cord

For a traditional and flexible option, we use D rings with strong hanging cord. This setup allows the frame to hang from a single central hook, and it’s especially helpful for heavier or larger pieces. We also have double D Rings available for those heavier frames.

4. Sawtooth Hangers

A popular choice for canvas frames, sawtooth hangers are easy to use and provide a neat solution for smaller artworks. The work just as well on regular frames and are easily installed with a drill and screws. They feature a zigzag edge that grips onto wall nails or hooks, making alignment and installation quick and simple.
