You need two key measurements: the outer size (the overall mount dimensions, matching your frame) and the aperture size (the opening that reveals your artwork). The aperture should be 3–5mm smaller than your artwork on each side so the mount overlaps and holds the artwork in place. Example: for an A4 print (297×210mm), use an aperture of approximately 287×200mm, with outer size matching your frame. Our calculator handles both metric and imperial measurements.

A double mount uses two layers of mountboard: a top mount and an inner mount with a slightly larger aperture, creating a visible coloured border around the opening. Yes. Every custom picture mount we produce is made from acid-free, pH neutral, lignin-free mountboard buffered with calcium carbonate. This conservation quality means the mount will not yellow or chemically damage your artwork over time — unlike cheaper non-archival boards. Our mountboard is suitable for museum-grade framing and long-term preservation of photographs, fine art prints, watercolours, and original artwork. We do not use ordinary grey-core board.
A white core mount has pure white material throughout the thickness of the board — not a grey or coloured core. When the bevel is cut, the exposed core along the aperture edge remains a clean white, which looks far more professional than a grey-core alternative.
